Forsyth Humane Society presents Art Unleashed! 2008
Celebrating animals, art and our community!

The Forsyth Humane Society is excited to once again bring Art Unleashed!, a public art exhibition, to the streets of Winston-Salem. The fiberglass forms for the Forsyth Humane Society’s Art Unleashed! public art exhibition have arrived, been picked up and painted by the artists and are now on display at their foster homes for the summer.

Bigger-than-life dogs and cats have transformed the downtown streets of Winston-Salem and surrounding communities in this community arts project. The pack of fiberglass canines and kitties – at peace with one another for the good of the real animals of Forsyth County – hit the streets of Winston on April 26, 2008 at the Winston-Salem Pet Parade.  They will sit – and stay – through the first of August, vibrantly gracing downtown streets, storefronts and intersections, bringing people downtown and bringing smiles to their faces. We know these decorated dogs and colorful cats will offer one more reason to call Winston-Salem the City of the Arts.

The decorated critters will be auctioned off at an Adoption Party (Auction) on August 23, 2008 at the Wachovia Center located in downtown Winston-Salem.  A walking map with the locations for all Art Unleashed! animals will be available at Visit Winston-Salem (aka The Visitors Center), the Forsyth Humane Society, as well as the foster homes.

Art Unleashed! 2008 is raising funds for animals in need, who too often live out on the streets for real. These funds will support the Humane Society's "No-Kill" Adoption Center, Educational OUtreach Programs, Sick and Injured Animal Fund and Low-Cost Spay Nueter Assistance for Low-Income Pet Owners. By supporting Art Unleashed! 2008, you'll help end animal overpopulation in our community. Together we can make a difference!
